Isis
Band Promotional Video
These
are two fun promo videos for a popular Las Vegas based
rock band called Isis. This project came to me during
the early beta stages of the Video Workshop. I used
these projects to work through some of the basic cross-fading
and overlay techniques used in the Video Workshop code.

While the video source footage brought
to me for each of the following demos was below average quality,
I truly enjoyed the creative aspect of editing and producing a final
product without the need for high-end video editing equipment.

Michael
Darrin Promotional Video
This
video is a compilation of numerous shows that Michael choreographed and
designed costumes for - from television, to live stage, to music videos
and commercials. This five-minute production was created from hundreds
of splices pulled from dozens of VHS and Hi-8 tapes. Each kick, stomp,
and slide from each extraction was perfectly timed to a single piece of
music, using SAWStudio's video and audio syncing capabilities. The final
project contained 160+ video clips from 18 source files. Video editors
will appreciate the time intensive work a project of this magnitude requires,
yet with the use of SAWStudio, the final master was completed in just
under a week. The few transitional effects and overlays were done in Magix's
Video Deluxe and rendered back and cut into the SAWStudio timeline.

"Aireus" Show
Compilation Demo
"Aireus" made it's debut at the Reno Hilton in the Spring of 1997.
A show completely directed, choreographed, and costumed by Michael Darrin, it
was praised by critics as "an exquisite celebration of flight, fantasy,
creatures performing superhuman acrobatics, and an artistic new dimension where
humans really do fly." This video is a 14-minute compilation of many of
the highlights of the show. The video was edited in Adobe Premiere and
moved into the SAWPro AVI Viewer to synchronize with the audio, then live synchronized
playback was dumped to midi DV cam as a master.
