Bob was soon contracted to design and
create a complete custom word processing environment, based
on the needs of Tom's top secretarial staff, to be distributed
throughout his chain of offices nationwide. The final design
took the shape of an Assembly Language TSR (Terminate Stay
Resident) DOS-based, full-blown word processing environment.
This software displayed all of the functionality of the
most popular word-processing programs, but featured a unique
non-standard simplified command structure, designed to
improve efficiency and speed.
The TSR capability
offered the uniqueness of allowing the word processing
application to be displayed
on top of other programs, such as spreadsheets and
databases simultaneously - at a time when multitasking
capabilities were not readily available. This program
was titled "WordSense" (the word processor
that made sense), and later sold independently for
a short time by Bob as "WordSmith." |
