In 1979, the opportunity
arrived to build a serious commercial recording studio with
the help of a prominent investor. Bob and a close friend,
Dan Henderson, found "the perfect" ranch-style
property in a remote location on the south outskirts of
town. At that time, all one could see from this location
besides the open mountain range and desert, was a freeway
exit and a truck stop a mile away.
After securing the property,
Bob enlisted the help of another close friend, Jim McMurray,
who was living in Kansas, but happily relocated to Las Vegas
to be a part of this new venture. On the eve of Christmas,
with sledge hammers and dreams in tow, the three friends
worked together to tear down interior walls of their new
facility, opening it up for the newly envisioned studio
layout. By New Years Day, the new floor plan was ready to
implement.
Jim was living in the building
during the construction, but many nights all three found
themselves camping out on the bare floor in sleeping bags,
brain-storming about new ideas, and completely absorbed
in their new project. |
